How to Connect a Business or Creator Account to Spotlight via Facebook

To connect a professional account to Spotlight via Facebook, you have first ensure that you have a Facebook page connected to your Instagram account. An Instagram account that is connected to a Facebook page gives you access to more features in Spotlight as well as Instagram itself. Learn more.

Here’s how to connect your Instagram account via Facebook:

Step 1: Switch to Professional Account (Creator or Business)

The first step is to switch your Instagram account from a Personal to a Professional account. If you’re unsure how to do this, you can follow this step-by-step guide.

Step 2: Ensure your Instagram account is linked to a Facebook Page

Since Instagram is owned by Meta, connecting an account via Facebook requires you to have a Facebook page connected to your Instagram account. If you don’t have a Facebook Page yet, click here to learn how to create one. Once the page is set up, you can follow this guide to link your Instagram account to the Facebook Page.

Step 3: Connect the account to Spotlight

The next step is to connect your Instagram account to Spotlight. Connecting your Instagram account with Spotlight requires a few simple steps.

  1. Click on any connect button in Spotlight.
  2. When provided with the option, click on the "Advanced (connect via Facebook)" button.

  3. A popup from Facebook appears that asks you to continue with your Facebook profile. Click on the "Continue as *Your Name*" button.

  4. Click on "All Instagram Business Accounts", then click Next.

  5. Click on "All Pages", then click Next.

  6. Keep all permissions as they are (these are required for Spotlight to work) and click "Done".

  7. Once the link is confirmed, click "OK".

  8. That's it. You will immediately see a preview of your posts.

During the connection process, you may encounter this error:

"Oops! We couldn’t find any Business Instagram accounts connected to your Facebook account!"

This issue occurs because you’re not listed in the “People with Facebook Access” section. We’ve provided a workaround to resolve this in this documentation.
