Can’t Authenticate with Instagram due to CORS errors
When attempting to connect your Instagram account and you find the screen freezing or not progressing, it's commonly due to an error known as 'CORS', which stands for Cross-Origin Resource Sharing. To confirm if it's a CORS issue, inspect the browser console. This can be accessed in most browsers by right-clicking on the web page, selecting 'Inspect', and then navigating to the 'Console' tab.
There, you might encounter an error message such as:
"Access to script at … from origin ... has been blocked by CORS policy : No 'Acess-Control-Allow-Origin' header is present on the requested source.”
This error arises when web browsers need to ensure that scripts from one website don't maliciously interact with another site. Rest assured, Spotlight values your content's security and will not do anything malicious with your content.
The root causes of this issue could be:
- Browser Extensions Conflict: Some browser extensions, especially those dealing with security or ad-blocking, may interfere with the connection process. To fix this:
- Try using a different web browser to see if the problem persists.
- Alternatively, use the Incognito Mode (or Private Browsing) in your browser. This mode often disables most extensions, which can help determine if an extension is causing the issue.
- Network Issues: Occasionally, specific network settings or security protocols can cause this error. This is seen especially in corporate or highly secure networks.
- As a first step, try refreshing the page or restarting your router.
- If that doesn't work, consider connecting using a different network, like switching from Wi-Fi to mobile data, or using a different Wi-Fi network.
