Error #10 [IGApiException]: Requires user session

If you see this error show up in Spotlight:

The Instagram API responded with an error: Error #10 [IGApiException]: Requires user session

The problem will most likely be that your connected Instagram account's access token is invalid, possibly because it has expired.

To fix this error, please try one of the following:

  1. Reconnect your Instagram account from Instagram Feeds > Settings > Accounts, as explained here.
  2. If you don't have the login details for the Instagram account, ask the owner of that account to provide you with a Spotlight Access Token, as explained here.

Once the Instagram account is reconnected, the access token will be renewed and the feed will work fine again. 

Spotlight automatically renews the Access Tokens for Instagram Personal accounts when they expire. Access Tokens from Instagram Business accounts cannot be regenerated automatically due to limitations from the Instagram API, so you will need to reconnect the account every few months. A notice is shown in your WordPress dashboard when they are about to expire.
