User Roles Explained

The user roles that can access and modify feeds using the plugin depend on the specific WordPress site's configuration and capabilities.

By default, users with the "Administrator" role have full access to the plugin settings and can create and manage feeds. Users with the "Editor" role can also create and manage feeds but with some restrictions. Other user roles such as "Author," "Contributor," and "Subscriber" do not have access to the plugin settings.

Users with the "Editor" role in WordPress have a set of default capabilities that are different from the "Administrator" role. By default, Editors can create, edit, publish, and delete their own posts, as well as manage and moderate comments. However, Editors do not have full access to the plugin settings for the Spotlight WordPress plugin and have some restrictions when it comes to creating and managing feeds.

Here are some of the specific restrictions that Editors may have when using the Spotlight WordPress plugin:

  1. Create feeds: Editors can create and manage feeds for the plugin, but they may be restricted from accessing certain settings or features that are only available to Administrators. For example, Editors may not be able to create feeds that include custom post types or taxonomies that are restricted to Administrators.
  2. Modify feeds: Editors can modify existing feeds, but they may be restricted from changing certain settings or features that are only available to Administrators. For example, Editors may not be able to change the post types or taxonomies that are included in a feed or the priority of the feed relative to other feeds.
  3. Manage plugin settings: Editors may not have access to all of the plugin settings and features that are available to Administrators. For example, Editors may not be able to customize the plugin's appearance or behavior, configure advanced settings, or access the plugin's logs or analytics.

However, if your WordPress site uses a plugin or custom code that modifies user roles and capabilities, the user roles that can access and modify feeds may vary.

To check and modify the user roles and capabilities for the Spotlight WordPress plugin, you can navigate to the WordPress dashboard and go to "Users" > "User Roles." From there, you can modify the capabilities for each user role or create custom roles with specific capabilities for the plugin.
