Posts not showing

When your Instagram posts, be it photos or videos, are not showing up in your feed, either on the back-end or the front-end, please try the solutions below.

Note: The below issues and solutions have been discovered through our support channels. If these solutions do not apply to you or do not work, please contact our support team. We will be happy to help you debug the issue specifically for your website.

1. Optimization plugins

Plugins such as Autoptimize which offer the option to minify (optimize) your CSS and JS files may break Spotlight's styling and case your feeds not to show any posts.

The solution to this problem is to ask the optimization plugin being used on your website to exclude Spotlight's files.

To fix this issue, please use the below file path to exclude all of Spotlight's files:

If you are using Spotlight PRO, the path should be as follows:

2. Disabling dashicons

This issue was discovered in the WP Disable plugin, but it applies to any plugins that offer the option to disable dashicons.

Spotlight uses dashicons in its feed output, so when they are disabled, your Instagram feed will break and no posts will be shown.

To fix this issue, please keep dashicons enabled on your website.

3. Disabling the WP REST API

We have come across some websites that use plugins to disable the WordPress REST API.

Spotlight uses the WP REST API to function, and as such, it must be kept enabled.

If you are disabling the WP REST API, please enable it for Spotlight to function correctly.

4. Cache

Plugins such as WP Fastest Cache and others have been known to cause Spotlight feeds to stop working at certain times.

To fix this issue, please clear all your caches. That includes your browser cache, site cache, hosting cache, DNS cache, etc.

5. WP Rocket

When using WP Rocket, there are further exclusions that need to be made, namely...

  1. Exclude the following for "inline Javascript" (these are pieces of Javascript code that are added by the Spotlight shortcode that contain your feed's settings):
    • SliCommonL10n
    • SliFrontCtx
  2. Allow WordPress' bundled React for excluded Javascript files (These are WordPress' "react" Javascript, that our plugin needs to show the feed:
    • /wp-includes/js/dist/vendor/react.js
    • /wp-includes/js/dist/vendor/react.min.js
    • /wp-includes/js/dist/vendor/react-dom.js
    • /wp-includes/js/dist/vendor/react-dom.min.js
